Updating and Revising the Agents Mental State in Dialogues

I present a logic programming framework extended with explicit negation that models the participation of agents in dialogues. The semantics of the framework is given by the well founded semantics of logic programs extended with explicit negation ((AP96, ADP95, Alf93]). In this framework agents are modeled by sets of extended logic programming rules representing their mental state. An agent mental state is composed by: Attitudes Attitudes are the agent believes, intentions, and objectives at each time point. Reasoning rules These rules deene what are the relations between attitudes ((CMP90, CL90, AP80, AL86]). Behavior rules These rules describe the agent behavior, namely, its level of sincerity co-operativeness, credulity, and activity. Diierent behaviors can be supported through the change of these rules.
